Materials

At Studio San Designs we use recycled materials, mostly recycled plastics, to reduce our material footprint.

The two materials we use the most are biobased and recycled PLA from the food packaging industry, and recycled PET from single use packaging waste and bottles.

Another material with unique aesthetics is biobased plastic with wood fibre. The wood fibre is a waste product in the Scandinavian paper industry which allows us to reduce the quantity of plastics we use.

In addition we experiment with used consumer plastics like for example old camping chairs. We grind material to small bits and smelt the plastic to usable form so we can make new objects.

Our goal is to be completely circular in the future.

We see the importance of the United Nations' sustainable development goals.
By using recycled materials we want to handle accordingly and offer people the possibility of sustainable and local consumption.
